We are walking along the Oberhof as far as the Kaserne and throwing a glance at the most gorgeous building of Hofen.

View to Holländer's house from the Kaserne
The Holländer's house is one of the most gorgeous half-timbered house of the whole canton. It was once the residence of Mayor Tobias Holländer from Berau in the 17th century. Well preserved details such as the stone coat of arms over the baroque portal still testify to this time.

The Holländer's house is like a small castle: stone coat of arms over the

Today, this building is also classified as a historical monument in the area like the Kaserne (barracks). Thanks to an extensive renovation in the year 1995, the Holländer's house shines in new glory. The renovation was undertaken by the dwellers, the brothers Markus and Fredy Bührer who used their manual skills perfectly for the preservation of this unique emblem of Hofen.
